Teens Can Benefit By Working With an Invisalign® Dentist to Straighten Teeth

As an Invisalign® dentist, we are experts at straightening teeth without the treatment being obvious.  Using Invisalign® has made dramatic changes in the lives of many adults, who previously were living with crooked or misaligned teeth. Gaining the confidence of a perfect smile, in today’s competitive world, makes a huge difference in terms of confidence and, studies have shown, likability. While this solution has provided adults with the answer to the traditional problem of how to get teeth straightened without having a mouth full of metal, the question still remains regarding what the best solution is for teenagers. Many parents still favor the traditional approach to straightening teeth, opting for a better-known solution for changing their child’s smile.

Teenagers, however, can benefit from Invisalign®. So much so, in fact, that Invisalign® itself has launched a complete solution that is targeted specifically at the teenage patient. We understand that, just like adults, teenagers have a great deal of anxiety when it comes to straightening their teeth using traditional means. In many cases, it is actually harder for teenagers to deal with braces. When you consider peer pressure, the food teenagers love to eat, and the importance this age group puts on looks, it becomes obvious why parents should consider Invisalign® Teen in lieu of traditional metal braces.

As an Invisalign® dentist, our treatment does exactly the same thing traditional braces do. Braces are designed to use metal brackets and wires to gradually align a teenager’s teeth into a more suitable position. Invisalign® does this by using a series of clear aligners that also move teeth into a proper alignment. The difference is that with Invisalign®, your teenager will not have to undergo the severe dietary restrictions required when wearing traditional braces. Since these clear aligners are completely removable, they can be taken out for meal times, meaning fewer restrictions. Additionally, they are virtually invisible, meaning your teen will be more inclined to wear them without feeling embarrassed.

While there are distinct advantages with Invisalign® for teenagers, it becomes most apparent that this is the right treatment for your teenager when you consider that there are a laundry list of foods your teenager will not be able to eat with traditional braces. From carrots to raw apple to popcorn, a teenager’s life becomes severely restricted once they have traditional braces. With Invisalign®, however, none of these have any bearing since the teen can just remove the aligners, eat whatever they want, and then replace the aligners. The same holds true for playing a musical instrument and the use of a mouth guard while playing sports. All of these may not seem like much at the outset, but when you consider that most treatments to straighten teeth take several years it becomes important to consider the convenience factors.

Under the care of a trained, professional Invisalign® dentist, your teenager can start the procedure in no time at all. We will do a full evaluation and determine if your child is a good candidate for Invisalign treatment, which the vast majority of teenagers are. Treatment typically takes exactly the same amount of time as a traditional braces treatment would so for more information schedule an appointment today.
